NAG RENEW KA NA BA NG INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIPS MO FOR 2025?

With the SOARING ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP FEES  for 2025 - - nakapili ka na ba kung anu ano sa napakaraming TOURISM ASSOCIATIONS ang iyong irerenew o hindi  pa or nag iisip na wag na irenew ang iba?

Choosing the right tourism industry association membership is crucial for business growth and success pero it’s about time na dapat din nating pag isipan if they are WORTH RENEWING?  Some basic criteria that we can consider are - - - -

1. IS IT ALIGNED WITH OUR BUSINESS GOALS such as :

  • Target Market: Does the association cater to our specific target market ?
  • Geographic Focus: Is the association's focus aligned with our operating region (like National, Regional, International)?
  • Industry Specialization: Does the association represent our specific niche within the tourism industry (like tour operators, travel agents, destination management companies)?

2. Membership Benefits and Value:

  • Networking Opportunities: Does the association provide opportunities to connect with other professionals, potential clients, and partners?
  • Education and Training: Does the association offer workshops, seminars, conferences, or online resources to enhance our skills and knowledge2? Do they charge fees or free  for members? If may fees, minimal ba o mataas pa rin?
  • Industry Advocacy: Does the association actively advocate for the interests of its members, lobbying for favorable regulations and policies? Do they protect members and offer solutions to help reduce scammers and industry free loaders?
  • Marketing and Promotion: Does the association offer marketing opportunities, such as member directories, promotional materials, or event listings?
  • Discounts and Benefits: Does the association offer discounts or special rates for members?

3. Membership Fees and Cost-Benefit Analysis:

  • Membership Dues: Are the membership fees reasonable and within our budget?
  • Return on Investment: Do the benefits and value you receive from the association outweigh the cost of membership?

4. Reputation and Credibility:

  • Industry Recognition: Is the association respected and recognized within the tourism industry?
  • Member Base: Does the association have a strong and active membership base?
  • Professional Standards: Does the association uphold high standards of professionalism and ethics among its members?
  • Finance Management : 
    • Frugal ba ang Association ?
    • Ginagamit ba ng tama ang fund?
    • Is the fund allocation for member services ok or mas maraming porsiyento ng fund eh sa  soft programs allocated instead of hard programs which is long term and beneficial for members?
    • Besides the membership dues, what else ang source of funds ng Association? Product Updates, B2B sessions, Travel Expo, Trainings, etc?  Ung mga income na ito ay well reported and presented ba sa members?
    • Nagagamit ba ang funds para sa programs and projects for members or naka save lang sa bank  "forever" and investments?

5. Additional Considerations:

  • Online Community: Does the association have a vibrant online community or forum where members can connect and share information?
  • Events and Conferences: Does the association organize regular events and conferences that aligns with your interests and not just GMM’s?
  • Certification Programs: Does the association offer any certification programs that could enhance our business's credibility?
  • DO THEY SHARE THE FINANCIAL STATUS/REPORT OPENLY WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING QUESTIONED? Is it openly published and shared?  Or nakatago lang at ayaw ilabas for member’s review and comments.
  • Do they have FAIR selection of participants or attendees to programs with limited slots ( like familiarization tours, product updates, supplier launch, etc).

MANAGING A TRAVEL AGENCY IS NOT AS EASY AS 123

 Are you planning to put up your own Travel Agency business?

Is it easy?  Let me share my thoughts on this as a Travel Agency practitioner for 15 years. I established my own Pakisuyo Travel & Tours last May of 2009 without any background from the Industry.... from retail to tourism... 2 different speciesπŸ˜‚

Managing a travel agency is a complex and challenging endeavor that requires a unique set of skills and competencies. Despite the glamorous image often associated with the travel industry, the reality is that managing a travel agency is not as easy as many may think. 

Here are some key points to consider:


  1. Competitive Landscape: The travel industry is highly competitive, (soooo competitive!πŸ˜…πŸ˜“) with numerous agencies vying for customers' attention. To stand out in this crowded market, travel agency managers must constantly innovate, stay updated on industry trends, and offer unique services to attract and retain clients. UNIQUE in the sense that be different with your strategies, offerings and services.
  2. Customer Expectations: Travelers today have high expectations when it comes to customer service, personalization, and convenience. Meeting these demands requires a deep understanding of customer preferences, effective communication skills, and the ability to provide tailored travel experiences. It's customization.... customization and tons of customization!πŸ˜”πŸ˜•πŸ˜©
  3. Operational Challenges: Managing the day-to-day operations of a travel agency involves juggling multiple tasks, from booking flights and accommodations to handling customer inquiries and managing logistics. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask are essential for smooth operations or you end up with sleepless nights!😫😧
  4. Regulatory Compliance: The travel industry is subject to various regulations and compliance requirements, including licensing, insurance, and data protection laws. Ensuring that the agency operates within legal boundaries and meets industry standards is crucial for long-term success. 😀😣

Effective risk management strategies, such as insurance coverage and crisis preparedness, are vital for protecting both the agency and its customers. It can even be a make or break!😨😒

Profitability can be influenced by factors such as seasonality, economic conditions, and market trends. Oh my, you need a lot of fund for bonds, for security and a lot more.😡😢


In conclusion, while managing a travel agency can be a rewarding and fulfilling career, it is certainly not without its challenges. Success in this industry requires a combination of industry knowledge, business acumen, customer focus, and resilience in the face of obstacles. By recognizing the complexities of travel agency management and being prepared to navigate them effectively, managers can position their agency for long-term success in a dynamic and competitive market.  Again, its a beautiful industry, it's glamorous but you need to be smart, hardworking and passionate on what you are doing.  It's not easy - it requires a lot more than what you know.  It's not as easy as 123 babe.
